'The Listener' Print

This is a detailed print of my original painting 'The Listener'.

In the town Michael and I recently moved to, there is a statue of Jesus titled ‘The Listener’. I had never heard that name for the Savior before, and I absolutely love it. Ever since I saw that statue, I’ve wanted to create a painting of ‘The Listener’.

I think most of us are a lot worse at listening than we think we are. Listening is hard; it takes a lot of intention, empathy, and self restraint. I love the thought that we can follow Jesus by trying to be better listeners. Not fixing, not giving solutions, not interrupting, just listening. When I talk to the people in my life that truly listen to me, I feel so seen and cared for. 

I am so grateful for the ultimate listener - my Savior - who listens to every prayer I utter, both out loud and in my mind. A lot of the times my emotions and prayers are said to Him through my paintings. I am so grateful He listens to those too. Often, I paint the things I don’t have words for. I know He listens and He cares. I know that He listens to your prayers, your wishes, your dreams, your sadness, your pain, your heartaches.

In moments where you feel like no one is listening to you or no one understands you, it is my hope that this piece will remind you that the perfect listener is sitting right next to you in every moment. He sees, He knows, He cares, He listens.

I use a beautiful, heavy-weight, acid-free paper for my prints. Prints come unframed and signed by the artist. All of my prints are border-less.
