This is a detailed print of my original painting titled 'Rabboni’.

This moment of Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene at the garden tomb is one of my favorite moments of Holy Week. On Easter morning, John tells us how Mary stood at Christ’s empty tomb, weeping. Not yet fully understanding that Christ had been resurrected and would appear to her and the disciples, I imagine that Mary felt great sorrow and confusion. Mary’s sadness in this moment reminds me that our lowest moments often come before our happiest moments. ln order to feel joy and peace it is necessary for us to feel pain and sorrow. Just like light and dark, you cannot have one without the other.

Shortly after she discovered the empty tomb, Christ appeared to Mary. At first mistaking Him for the gardener, Mary began speaking to Him and expressing her concerns about where the Savior’s body had gone. This brings us to John 20:16, “Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.” I love the word Rabboni, which means ‘my teacher’ or ‘my master’. Whenever I read of this moment in the scriptures, I feel the spirit so strongly. I know that the Savior is aware of us in our hardest moments. Often, our most tender and special moments can come after that sadness. All Mary had to do was turn around, listen to the Savior and invite Him into her heart, and she recognized Him. May this piece be a reminder that the Savior knows and perfectly loves each one of us. He is aware of us in every situation we are in, and He will come to meet us in our moments of greatest sorrow. May we walk through life with just a portion of the faith of Mary, who sought the Savior and recognized His love in her saddest moment.

Canvas Details

Canvas prints are made lovingly by hand in the United States, and are shipped directly from my supplier to you. Reflective gold is NOT able to be added to the canvases due to the way they are made and the protective coating used on them. The gold colors in canvases will be a flat gold color as shown in the listing images.

Unframed Canvases have a wrapped image and a 1.5" edge. They have a sawtooth hanger in the back for easy installation.

Framed canvas prints come in either a white, black, or gold floater frame. Floater frames create the illusion that the artwork is floating inside of it. They elevate the artwork and the perfect finishing touch. Framed canvases have a 1.5" edge and come with a hanging wire in the back for easy installation.

Canvases are printed on thick archival grade, poly-cotton canvas. The canvas is pH neutral, acid-free, and will not yellow over time.
