Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eFor my whole life, my mental health struggles and my faith have been intertwined. The Savior has given me the gift of peace when anxiety and OCD meant my mind constantly racing. He gave me comfort and helped me stand when my depression made it hard for me to get out of bed. I felt Him sitting by me in my therapist’s office, felt Him hugging me on days where I felt completely alone, and I have watched Him turn that pain into something beautiful.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe girl’s dress in this piece represents all the different kinds of mental health issues that many of us struggle with. They are dark, confusing, and overwhelming. They are multi-faceted and complicated. The girl is met by the overwhelmingly warm embrace of her Savior. The warmth and love emanating from this painting is how I feel when I get to spend any time with Him. His warmth and light have eased the pain of the burdens I have carried.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAs I sang this hymn on Sunday, I reflected on my life and how the Savior has always been by my side through periods of really difficult mental illness. He has always been in pursuit of me, showing me His love in subtle, meaningful ways. I know that He always wants to be nearer to us.
